About Clinical Research

ABOUT CLINICAL RESEARCH

Clinical research studies are needed to test potential new medications to ensure they work and are safe. An “investigational” medication or product is one that is being evaluated for approval by medical authorities. Only after it has been tested in research studies and the relevant medical authorities approve the medication can doctors begin to prescribe it to patients.

ABOUT CLINICAL RESEARCH - Gladiator - Type 1 Diabetes Study

Why Participate?

There is no guarantee that study patients will receive any benefit from participating in the research study. Patients in this study may see their type 1 diabetes improve, worsen, or stay the same. However, this research study may yield new information that could benefit people with type 1 diabetes in the future by helping to answer questions about the effectiveness and safety of ladarixin.

Voluntary Participation and Informed Consent

Participation in a research study is completely voluntary. In all research studies, qualified potential patients are first informed about the research study in detail. After receiving this information, all patients must give their consent in writing to proceed. For minors under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign this consent, and the minor will sign an assent form. Some research studies involve more tests and doctor visits than the patients would normally have for an illness or condition.
